| The Occidental, the Johnson County Court House, and the Carnegie Wing of the Jim Gatchell Museum of the West are all listed in the National Register of Historic Buildings .. as are many other buildings along Buffalo's Historic Main Street District. Buffalo is a place where Western history is alive and well! Many events are held in Buffalo's downtown area including parades, cookouts, western re-enactments and sidewalk sales for the shoppers. | |

| The Bozeman Trail | If you enjoy western history, you are in for a real treat as we are located directly on the Historic Bozeman Trail. Only one half hour away you will find the site of the Wagon Box and Fetterman fights as well as the site of Fort Phil Kearny where Portugee Philips began his epic horse back ride of 250 miles through a raging blizzard to bring help to the Fort which was under siege by hostile Indians. Numerous other less famous Indian battle sites surround us as well. |

| Just south of town you will find the site of the historic TA Ranch where vigilantes and small ranchers fought a desperate gun battle. A little farther south is the famous "Hole in the Wall Country" where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and their band holed up. Ask us about these sites and events, or take a short trip downtown to the Gatchell Museum of the West which houses over 10,000 artifacts of local western and Native American history. | |

| The Big Horn Mountains & Bighorn National Forest If you enjoy the outdoors and incredible scenery, the Big Horn Mountains and the Bighorn National Forest are a must see. There are numerous mountain roads easily accessible to automobiles. | |

| Short hikes to incredible vistas like Sheep Mountain and High Park lookouts or the Petrified Forest are a short drive away. For the more adventuresome, the Cloud Peak Wilderness offers medium to difficult hiking trails. Horseback riding is also available as are fishing, camping, biking, bird watching and much, much more. | |

| | Scenery and Wildlife Johnson County, Wyoming is an especially beautiful place when the wildflowers bloom in spring and during the autumn foliage season. There are many loop tour areas available and sightseeing opportunities are endless. Wildlife including Pronghorn Antelope, Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Moose, and Elk are plentiful in the region. Be sure to bring your camera and plenty of film! |
| Rodeos The Annual Johnson County Fair and Rodeo is held early in August at the County Fairgrounds in Buffalo. A Fair and Rodeo Parade is held on Main Street in Buffalo Saturday morning of Fair and Rodeo Week. Amateur Rodeos and other events are scheduled frequently all summer long at the Fairgrounds. | |
| | Other Recreation The Buffalo Golf course, rated # 2 in Wyoming by Golf Digest, is an outstanding 18 hole course with a view of the Big Horns that will inspire you. (It may not help your game, but it will inspire you none the less.) There is also a Certified Volkswalk Path just a hop, skip and jump away. |

| Clear Creek Centennial Trail - scenic, groomed walk-way through the town and along Clear Creek for several miles or a short walk -- which ever suits your needs. Deer and other wildlife are often seen along the trail. The entire trail is about 10 miles in length and extends into the Big Horn Mountains. | |
